Exhaust Air Heat Pump provide controlled domestic ventilation with heat recovery, reusing the heat energy generated within the property, from ventilation, lighting, people and domestic appliances. They are used to provide heating and hot water for highly insulated new build properties. They also ventilate and filter the air creating totally hygienic air conditions, preventing stuffy air and damp and mould, which can be a problem in newly built modern air-tight properties.
As Exhaust Air Heat Pumps rely upon heat within the property, they are only suitable for use in smaller well insulated newly built properties such flats, apartments and social housing that have been sustainability built to have very little heat loss. Preferably, the implementation of these systems will be designed into the layout of the property from the beginning. They are not suitable for older, draughty or larger properties.
